Annual Natchez trip

We decided to take a jaunt down to Natchez, MS for the day. Apparently, it was a year to the day from the last time we went to Natchez. The best part of the trip was lunch. We crossed the Mississippi river over to Vidalia and ate at Johnnie Mae’s. They were FANTASTIC!

Scott’s pyrography

In August, I started trying wood burning. Earlier in the summer, Radio Shack was going out of business. I headed down there to see if anything was left on the shelves. I grabbed a couple cables, and as I was checking out, the manager pointed out a new soldering iron was left. I snagged it for just a couple bucks as a cheap backup. After a few weeks, I was looking at the packaging and noticed it had “hobby tips.” After further inspection, it appears to have come with wood burning tips as well. So I ordered some carbon paper to trace images, grabbed some scrap cedar from Deva’s dad and gave it a go. It was fairly successful from the first attempt, so I kept on. Since then, I upgraded to a slightly better pen.

Seattle – 2017

My best friend in the world, James B. retired after serving 20 years in the USCG. I traveled to Seattle to visit him for the first time in years. Her’s a few pics of our time there. We visited Mt. Rainier, Jimi Hendrix’s grave, downtown Seattle, the Coast Guard base and PX.
