First Day of School!

Well, Bella has started her first day of Kindergarten today. She was very, very excited and couldn’t wait to get to class. Kaya, as well, let us know when it was time for us to move along and leave her in her class. Bella was extremely pleased to have her own name tag! Champagne and CJ were just ecstatic to get back to school….which probably explains why CJ chose to wear his “Allergic to Homework” t-shirt the first day!

Out with the girls

Since Mommy is out of town, the girls and I had a busy day. First, we went to the mall and the girls got set up with a Identification package sponsored by the Masons. For no charge, we now have a packet with photo, voice, video, fingerprints and DNA.

Then we met up with Chante and Jordan and had some McDonald’s..or well, the kids did. Then we headed over to Claire’s so they could get new earrings.

After that we headed to Marble Slab and got ice cream. The girls enjoyed Double Chocolate with sprinkles and I somehow forced myself to have some mocha.

Full on ice cream, we went to the movies and saw Kung Fu Panda. Very funny movie….

Last, we headed to Wal-Mart and stocked up on some groceries. The girls also picked out their backpacks for the upcoming school year!

Texas Dry Rub

I put the recipe below on a 2lb brisket from Lil Butcher Shoppe, stuck it in my Brinkmann Smoke’N Pit Smoke King. Also, threw a lb of Conecuh sausage on there as well 🙂

1 tablespoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon ground white pepper
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon garlic powder
2.5 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon ground oregano
3 tablespoon paprika (the sweet kind — not the hot kind)
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 tablespoon celery salt
1 tablespoon salt
Thoroughly combine all ingredients. Rub mixture into the meat, wrap tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight. Store leftover mixture in an airtight jar or in freezer.

July 2008 Birthday Bash!

Mom had a slew of folks over at her house for the July birthday peoples. We grilled burgers, hot dogs, sausage and had some great baked beans and potato salad. The girls did their first long term successful swimming without floaties yesterday and were ELATED about it!

Here’s a few pics from the day!
